During the summer of 2018, Movomech International AB delivers a large number of manual handling solutions to Volvo’s new factory in Charleston, USA, where the production of the new premium sedan S60 starts this fall.
These equipments are key elements of the final assembly process, including lifting and mounting of the car’s doors, seats, tunnel console and dashboard.
– These types of more complex manual handling processes are our specialty,” says Fredrik Edlind, Key Account Manager at Movomech International.
– To develop a complete solution that responds to the automotive industry’s high demands on ergonomics while at the same time cope with a continuous production process in multiple shifts where the least production disturbance has major consequences, there are few companies in the world that can handle. Volvo has always been an important customer for us, and we are proud to once again gain Volvo’s confidence and deliver equipment to the new US facility.
Volvo Cars announced by a press release on June 20 that within a few years, they are also planning to produce another car model in the same factory, the premium SUV model XC90. Yearly manufacturing capacity will be up to 150,000 cars and it is estimated that 4,000 new jobs will be created at the Charleston plant within the next few years.
